Hey ho, we are finally on the move again! After the ‘Passagen’ exhibition, we went to the Embassy in Frankfurt to arrange our visas for the USA. We really do have them for 6 months; amazing! From there we travelled with a Dutch driver directly from Frankfurt to Leerdam. As always with no fixed plan, we walked into the Glasblazerij des Glasmuseums (the glass studio of the Glass Museum) Amazingly, we met exactly the right people there; the ones who we had met at the Symposium in the Czech Republic! In a flash, they had arranged a free place for us to sleep and integrated us into the happy group of glass makers. One of the group, Josja, invited us to visit her studio the next day, where she works together with Bernhard Hessen. The next day we started by checking out the museum and then went to see Josja and Bernhard. Their workshop is in an old watermill and in comparison to the museum, it’s really rustic. Afterwards we went back to the museums studio, where all the glass was being taken out of the furnace as the museum was going to be closed for the next two weeks. Otherwise we would have probably been able to work there for a few days. Today we’ll take a look at the Glasmuseum and in the factory before we make our way to Amsterdam on Sunday.
