We now have our first glass making days behind us. As Peter momentarily didn’t have any work for us, we explored the region for a few days. This is how we got to Skagen and Jonas Brus Staehr who immediately offered us some work. We’ve been taking it in turns working with him this weekend, bringing him glass for him to make bases for drinking glasses, bases for bowls and goblets. Jonas is a big hairy monster of a Dane, who had us working really hard. Together with Louise, Peter made the first Roll-up’s, after Franca had prepared everything on Saturday; so all the tools and glass were tested on various flight paths around the workshop. It was a great experiment to just work exclusively with a heating drum and not a glass furnace. This drum worked with an 11kg Propane gas canister, pressured to 20-30 Bar. When the pressure fell under 20 Bar, Louise had to turn, shake and twist the iced canister until there were flames coming out of the drum again, or we had to swiftly change the gas canister. Peters Roll-up experiment used only 15 litres, which is 1 ½ canisters in four hours. We all thought we would use up more. Tomorrow, we’ll both start the second Roll-up session with Peter.
