Bornholm, DK

Having left Franca and Jonas in Skagen in order to help Peter Kuchinke again, I had the opportunity to first travel with him to Bornholm. This is a small island south of Sweden belonging to Denmark, on which a European Glassmakers’ meeting was taking place. There were three exhibition openings and a selection of talks and seminars. I visited the exhibitions as well as the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts / School of Design, Bornholm, where I got some interesting insights. In the Museum of Art there was also a glass exhibition. The museum has a very fine collection of arts and crafts from the island, and I was particularly impressed by the architecture. Peter told me that the people of Bornholm initially objected so much to the building of the museum, that when the architect landed at the airport, no taxi would take him to the building site. Meanwhile they are happy with their museum. I have met a few familiar faces, for example Espen and Helena from Höör in Sweden, who we worked with for two days. The exhibited glass pieces were very varied and sometimes unusual. So I had two nice and sunny, but fairly exhausting days on Bornholm.
